My Parents’ Surprise Trip

yellowstone national park

It was a simple morning hike in Yellowstone National Park. We had hardly anything to do and barely enough time to pack our gear before heading out. mom and dad decided to take a quick minute drive to the spot where my parents  is situated.

We parked the car and took a little walk around nomad campground, one of the many nomad camps in Yellowstone National Park. We had a pretty nice day trip some of the campgrounds we had seen in the past.

After our walk around we decided to visit ottawater-pox hospital. It was pretty interesting inside the hospital and with all the wild animals roaming around, I didn’t think I could have any real fear of snakes. I was pretty surprised to find out that the hospital was converted from the military hospital that they Use to use in WWII.

The docent, a retired nurse, talked to us about what life was like in the military, and how they were trained to handle any kind of disturbances that would occur inthe area. They were required to have a set of rules and try to maintain a certain decorum.

After leaving the hospital we were all set and took off for the National Park. I was a little nervous about whether my parents would keep their distance, knowing that I was going to a National Park.

We drove through some old ghost towns, and I was fascinated by the bizarre stone structures that the towns were built with.

I especially love the little towns tucked away in the Appalachians. I saw a ruined little village on an old road that was now surrounded by dwarf spruce trees.

The road started off in pretty good shape, but when we got towards Parthenon, the road got rough and we had to pull over in a little washcloth, which we were told was made by the Sikkimese. It was then that we got our first glimpse of what I call theNorthwest Eskimoox call “flattops”, it was the same as their rectangular houses, but longer and much more rugged. I couldn’t help but think these towers were more like Swedish Svens with flatter roofs than the usual skyscrapers, and wondered how these aboriginal people can afford to livein the harsh arctic conditions.

It was driving on the wild side when we got to a flat piece of land called Roatan (I highly recommend you take a tour of this island, it is amazing).

We came around a left side curve and were stuck for a good while. I had visions of being attacked by a spider wasp or mountain lion. Climb that rock next time. We barely got out of the car when a great white shark started circling the car. The shark was not interested in us and kept heading straight at us. If it had been any larger than I was able to see, it probably would have taken us both.

I have never seen so many people so healthy and alive and our hotel had the most beautiful countertop restoration done in our room.

After Roatan, we flew down to Miami and, of course, we picked up the prettiest young girl I had ever laid eyes on. My dream came true. Unfortunately, she was on a plane bound for her someday wedding to a Great White Texan.
